Fabric Care
At 33, we believe that fine fabrics are meant to be lived in and loved for years. Because we use artisanal techniques and natural fibers (viscose/ pure silk/ pure cottons), they require a little extra grace in their handling.
The Golden Rules for All Our Dresses
Cold is King: Always wash in cold water. It preserves the fibers and prevents the colours/ prints from fading.
Gentle Cycle or Hand Wash: Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid harsh bleaches or "stain-removing" chemicals that can weaken the weave.
Shade Dry Only: The Kerala sun is beautiful, but direct sunlight is the enemy of natural dyes. Always dry your dresses in the shade, inside out.
Specific Care by Fabric
- Mulcotton (The Airy Essential)
Mulmul is delicate and gets softer with every wash.
Wash: Hand wash is preferred. If using a machine, use a laundry bag.
Iron: Use a medium-hot steam iron while the fabric is slightly damp for that crisp, professional look.
- Sanganeri & Handblock Prints
These prints are created using carved wooden blocks and natural pigments.
First Wash: We recommend a quick dip in cold salt water/Colour Guard for 10 minutes to "lock" the colors. Wash separately the first few times.
Note: Minor color bleeding during the first wash is a sign of authentic hand-dyeing, not a defect.
- Hakoba & Eyelet Embroidery
The intricate embroidery requires protection from snags.
Wash: Turn the garment inside out before washing to protect the threadwork.
Iron: Iron on the reverse side to avoid flattening the beautiful raised texture of the embroidery.
- South Cotton
Known for its durability and structure.
Starch: If you prefer a "smarter," more formal look for the office, a light spray starch works beautifully.
Shrinkage: Natural cotton may still contract by 1-2% on the first wash. This is normal.
